Open Question: How do I let him know that I like him without ruining our friendship?

So, I just started college. I’m a freshman and I’ve been attending this University for a little over a month. I met this guy a couple days after orientation started. He is a second semester junior (he took a semester off. And I know he sounds old but he is only 19). We met in the line to get our ID’s. He is really cool, and funny, and we just immediately clicked. I’ve started to catch feelings for him, and I want him to know, but I don’t want to out right tell him, ya know? Because I like having him as a friend, and I don’t want to make things weird if he doesn’t feel the same. We eat lunch together sometimes, and sometimes him, me and my room mate will eat dinner together in the caf . He even invited us to come to church with him. (I go to a Christian University). My point is, we are cool.

I want him to know that I am interested and kind of open up the door of opportunity for him to ask me out, but I don’t know how. Also, how do I know if he feels the same?
