Open Question: He stared at me for 2 minutes straight??

This guy started staring intensely at me while we were talking with some friends. I quickly looked away because I’m shy but he still didn’t look away! It’s like he didn’t even process that we had eye contact. He just sat staring for a long time. His eyes were kind of wide and he was really focused on me.

I finally looked up to ask him what was going on, opened my mouth, but he just suddenly snapped out of it then and looked away so fast, leaning back and turning his face away, acting casual, like nothing happened.

What might have been going on in his mind?
